The Watertown Police Department is a full-time police department with 72 sworn personnel

We provide 24-hour coverage to the citizens of the City of Watertown

We are proud to be a New York State DCJS Accredited Agency

Community Policing and Preventative Patrols

  • Visible foot and vehicle patrols
  • Escorts
  • Be accessible and approachable to community members
  • Educate the general public and school aged children through various programs (D.A.R.E.)
  • Provide security and safety during various events and parades held within the City of Watertown

Respond to Calls for Assistance

  • Respond to accidents, calls involving disputes, mental health incidents, and criminal or dangerous activity
  • Accurately document all calls for service
  • SRT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team able to mobilize and respond to critical incidents


**NOTE**

Some frequently requested services that are NOT provided by WPD (but may be provided by outside agencies, such as the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department) include, but are not limited to:

  • Fingerprinting- conducted on Wednesdays by JCSO
  • Drug drop off/take back program
